"No" to Tower Block on Walkley Lane

Local residents and local Liberal Democrat Councillor Jonathan Harston and Focus Editor Vickie Priestley have successfully persuaded the council to reject plans for a 10 storey tower block at the corner of Walkley Lane and Stoney Walk.

The council agreed that the huge building would be an eyesore and would dwarf the surrounding homes. The building was so tall it would have been seen from South Road. Jonathan and Vickie welcomed the decision. They agreed with local people who said that it would have intruded on residents' privacy and would have been a blight on the local area.
